A material with high-temperature oxidation resistance consisting mainly of MoSi2 with excellent brittle resistance which comprises an MoSi2 base or a base comprising 70 wt.% or more MoSi2 as the main component, wherein in X-ray diffractometry (bulb: Cu, characteristic line: K alpha ) of the base, the diffraction intensity for the main Si peak (2 theta =28.440 DEG , according to JCPDS) is not higher than 1/100 that for the main MoSi2 peak (2 theta =44.684 DEG ) and the diffraction intensity for the main Mo5Si3 peak (2 theta =38.405 DEG , according to JCPDS) is 1/300 to 1/10 that for the main MoSi2 peak (2 theta =44.684 DEG ).
