PURPOSE: A free-running mode circuit of LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) is provided to improve the capacity of a screen display by preventing a damage of LCD after a conversion to a free-running mode if abnormal control signal is applied. CONSTITUTION: A free-running mode circuit of LCD(Liquid Crystal display) includes abnormal control signal detector(10), a control signal generator(20), and a screen data output part(30). The abnormal control signal detector receives a reset signal, a control signal, and a master clock signal, detects abnormal or normal state of the control signal, and converts a mode to a free running mode, according to the detected result. The control signal generator generates a control signal from the master clock signal after receiving a free running mode signal from the abnormal control signal detector. If the free running mode signal is applied from the abnormal control signal, the screen data output part outputs RGB data signal for driving a screen after receiving external input RGB data signal and the RGB clock signal.
