The invented firearm (1) operated by compressed gas, particularly a pistol has a weapon frame (2), a barrel (3) arranged in or on the weapon (1) frame (2), a trigger (4) system, a grip (5) and a gas cartridge (15) or a gas capsule that can be inserted in a chamber (9) performed in the firearm (1) grip (5). The gas cartridge (15) can be brought into engagement with the firearm (1) valve system (33) for supply of gas when tripping a shot through the mediation of the trigger (4). The Firearm (1) is further provided with a closing mechanism (6) of the grip (5) for closing the chamber (9) in the grip (5) having the form of a closing cover, and a supporting seating (17) acting on the gas cartridge (15) bottom surface (16). This supporting seating (17) is separated from the closing mechanism (6) and is performed independently on the closing mechanism (6) by a shifting mechanism consisting of a shifting element (23) and a threaded pin functioning as an adjusting element (23) and acting in axial direction on bottom surface (16) of the gas cartridge (15). Both the shifting element (23) and the adjusting element (21) are movable independently on each other and the shifting element (23) can be brought in direct contact with the gas cartridge (15) bottom surface (16) in superimposed manner in the grip (5) closing mechanism (6).
