The invention relates to a method for producing a semi-finished product by upsetting a shaped slug (16) from a shaped extrusion. When viewed from the transverse direction, the shaped slug has at least a narrowed (20) or enlarged cross-section which co-operates with a correspondingly formed rounded-out section (22) or cavity in the die sinking (10), to fix the shaped slug. The inventive method comprises upsetting in at least two directions, using one or more longitudinal bars. The device for carrying out said method comprises a die sinking which consists of a lower tool (12) and an upper tool (14), in addition to a guide for longitudinal bars. The lower tool (12) and/or the upper tool (14) has at least one rounded-out section (22) or cavity for inserting a shaped slug in a positive-fit. |
