PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an actuation system capable of reducing transients at a low cost. SOLUTION: In this actuation system, equipped with a supply/discharge control mechanism 20 for controlling the supply/discharge of the operating fluid of an actuator 10 by either a mechanical control valve 31 or an electrical control valve 32, a mode selector valve 33 for selecting either of both the control valves 31 and 32 and inserting it into the fluid supply/discharge passage of the actuator 10, and a backup mechanism 30 for operating the control valve 31 by a mechanical operation input, when the control valve 31 is inserted into the supply/discharge passage by the selector valve 33, and a means 40 for controlling the flow rate of the operating fluid passing through the control valve 31 is provided. When the mode is changed over to insert the mechanical control valve 31 into the supply/discharge passage, the supply/discharge of the operating fluid passing through the control valve 31 is temporarily restricted by the control means 40, and this restriction is released later than the changeover of the selector valve 33.
