PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the data transfer method of the contents selling system which can have its communication procedure simplified by making common the format of a command or data transferred between terminals and allowing a transmission-source terminal to add its terminal ID to the command or data and send them to a transmission-destination terminal. SOLUTION: An authering system 1 records primary ciphered reproduction key data and ciphered contents in prescribed data structure and transfers them to a server for a kiosk terminal 5. The kiosk terminal 5 performs secondary ciphering for the primary ciphered reproduction key and downloads the secondary ciphered reproduction key data and ciphered contents to players 6a and 6b. The format of the transfer to the players 6a and 6b is common to a system via a store-installed terminal and a system via the Internet and includes selling headers, selling subheaders, and ciphered contents data by sold contents, and the selling subheaders are given by the numbers of pieces of music in the sold contents.
