PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent not only void caused around a black character but also occurrence of a contour and a color blur. SOLUTION: An edge detection/color discrimination section 21 uses a special filter to detect an edge, discriminates a color and outputs a black edge discrimination signal Bk. A feature quantity calculation/discrimination section 22 calculates a feature quantity in a mask, discriminates whether it is a character edge or not and outputs a character edge discrimination signal EDGE. Then an AND circuit 24 ANDs both the signals and the result is outputted as a black character edge discrimination signal BkEDGE. Moreover, an emphasis changeover discrimination section 23 discriminates whether or not void or contour is produced around a character through emphasis processing and outputs an emphasis changeover discrimination signal EMP. |
