PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical network system that considerably improves transmission performance of auxiliary data without giving an adverse effect on the transmission performance of major data. SOLUTION: A network management unit 22 of an engineering firm 20 sets a communication path between each remote communication equipment 11 and a center communication equipment 21 to form a path on a 2-core optical fiber ring 40 as its control and forms a new path looping back the one-core for a usual loop into the one-core for a loopback on two communication equipment adjacent to each other with a broken ring inbetween on the occurrence of the broken fiber ring 40. Then the network management unit 22 uses the one-core for loopback to transmit auxiliary data with lower priority when the optical fiber ring 40 is normal and stops the transmission of the auxiliary data when a new channel is formed resulting from the broken optical fiber ring 40. |
