The pump sump (10) is a modular waterproof part, fabricated using a permanent casting mold, ready for installation. The sump is made from fiber concrete, and has a steel reinforcement preferably formed like a basket. An all-round sealing element, preferably a joint gasket (12), is positioned to project from the top of the sump. The sump also has a pipe connection socket (13) with a seal (15) at the top.
