The invention relates to insoluble popcorn polymers that are only slightly capable of swelling and that contain a) 50 to 99 wt. % of styrene and/or at least one monounsaturated styrene derivative; b) 0.1 to 40 wt. % of at least one N-vinyl lactam or N-vinyl amine and c) 0.1 to 10 wt. % of at least one bifunctional cross-linking component, whereby the wt. % indications of the individual components a) to c) add up to 100 %.
