<p>A method is provided for controlling the amount of product retained in different sectors along the longitudinal (14) axis of a cylindrical brush (1,50). The brush is drawn through an opening (11,62) having a different cross-section to that of the brush. Embodiments of the method described include the use of an axially profiled brush with a circular opening (11) and also the use of a cylindrical shaped brush with a non-circular opening (62). An embodiment of the profiled brush is divided circumferentially into a first sector (13) having bristles (5) of a first length, and a second sector (15) which is substantially free of bristles (5) of the first length. The second sector (15) may optionally comprise bristles (5') of a second, shorter, length. Also described is a package comprising a brush and a container, for performing the method, and manufacturing methods for a profiled brush. <IMAGE></p> |
