PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized scan type confocal optical device with good operability whose insertion direction and visual field direction match each other. SOLUTION: The optical scan type confocal optical device is equipped with a light source part 112, an optical transmission part 114, an optical scanning part 116, an optical detection part 118, and a processing part 120. The optical scanning part 116 has a movable mirror 122, a fixed mirror 126, and a condenser lens 130. The movable mirror 122 has an opening 124 in its center and is capable of swinging at least on one axis. The fixed mirror 126 is supported fixedly by an optically transparent plate. The reflecting surface of the movable mirror 122 and the reflecting surface of the fixed mirror 126 face each other. The light projected from the core on the end surface of an optical fiber 216 functioning as a confocal pinhole after passing through the opening 124 is reflected by the fixed mirror 126 and then by the movable mirror 122 successively and converged on a body surface 132 by the condenser lens 130.
