PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain data for studying manufacturing conditions by making the thermal conductivity of a material at a high temperature measurable by specifying the outside diameter of a sample to be measured or the inside diameter of a sample container with respect to the outside diameter of a probe tube for measurement. SOLUTION: The outside diameter dP of a sample 14 to be measured is adjusted to 50-200 times of the outside diameter dP of a probe tube 9 for measurement. The outside diameter dP of the tube 9 is about 1.5 to 5 mm. When the sample 14 is a liquid, the outside diameter dS of the sample 14 is made equal to the inside diameter of the container 3 containing the sample 14. When the sample 14 is a solid, a hole having about the same size as that of the tube 9 is bored into the sample 14, and the tube 9 is inserted into the hole. In order to make easier the examination of the influence of radiation on the measurement accuracy, the container 3 or sample 14 is covered with a cap 15. After the temperature of the sample 14 becomes stable, a heating wire is heated with a fixed quantity of heat by making an electric current to flow to the wire. The thermal conductivity of the sample 14 is calculated from the heating temperature on the surface of the heating wire measured by means of a thermometer and the quantity of heat generated from the heating wire.
