POLYMERIC COLOR, ITS PREPARATION, AND RESIN COMPOSITION CONTAINING IT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polymeric color which is applied to a hydrophobic thermoplastic resin and has improved durability, solubility, tinting power, and compatibility by reacting a vinylphenol polymer or copolymer with an organic color. SOLUTION: This color has a structure represented by the formula (wherein Ph is an optionally halogen-substituted phenylene; X is -O- or-N-; D is an organic color residue; Y is a phenyl or cyclohexyl group optionally substituted with hydroxyl groups and/or halogen atoms or an alkoxycarbonyl group optionally substituted with 1-12C hydroxyl groups; R is hydrogen or methyl; m is an integer of 1 or greater; and n is 0 or an integer of 1 or greater. The color can be obtained by reacting a vinylphenol polymer or copolymer with an organic color and has a weight-average molecular weight of about 1,000-100,000.
