摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make high-accuracy quantitative analysis of steel for nitrogen possible without frequently exchanging the oxidizing agent contained in an oxidizing device, by preventing the deterioration of the oxidizing agent and the occurrence of sulfur dioxide by making the gas produced when a steel sample melts to flow through a desulfurizer filled up with a desulfurizing agent before the gas enters the oxidizing apparatus. SOLUTION: At the time of performing quantitative analysis on a steel sample containing sulfur for nitrogen in a method for quantitative analysis of steel, the gas produced when the sample melts is made to flow through a desulfurizer filled up with a desulfurizing agent, such as the manganese dioxide, etc., before the gas enters an oxidizing apparatus so as to prevent the deterioration of an oxidizing agent and the occurrence of sulfur dioxide. When the steel sample to be analyzed is an ordinary steel sample, no special restriction is placed and, when the sample contains little sulfur, the analysis accuracy is not checked. Regardless of the sulfur content of the steel sample, this method and device configuration can be applied effectively to the sample. It is preferable to adjust the quantity of the manganese dioxide packed in the desulfurizer to >=5 g at the time of continuously applying this method and instrument to as many as several tens or more samples.
