PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress an address cross talk without increasing the cost of a drive system by partially overlapping a third electrode group and barrier ribs at adjacent sections in spaces having no maintenance discharge between display cells in the direction parallel with the third electrode group arranged to cross first and second electrode groups, and arranging the third electrode group in response to the monochromes of the display cells. SOLUTION: Barrier ribs 31 are formed at the angleθagainst address A electrodes 29. The angleθis set to an angle satisfyingθ= arctan (Lxy/La), where La is the cell pitch in the direction of the address A electrodes 29 and Lxy is the cell pitch in the direction of X, Y electrodes 22, 23, thereby the address A electrodes 29 and barrier ribs 31 can be partially overlapped in so- called adjacent gap regions 53 having no electric discharge, and an address cross talk can be sharply reduced. The address A electrodes 29 are arranged in response to the monochromes of display cells, the color controlled by one address A electrode 29 is made monochrome, and the drive cost is reduced.
