PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To confirm whether a gas passage is surely intercepted or not so as to secure safe cutoff processing by confirming the condition of a gas valve after the operation control for cutting off or returning the gas valve for intercepting the gas passage is conducted. SOLUTION: This gas passage cutoff device 100 includes a cutoff valve confirming means 101 disposed in a control means 150, a cutoff valve driving means 901 and a cutoff valve 854 disposed in a gas introduction path in a gas meter. First, when one of a flow sensor 851, a pressure sensor 852 or an earthquake sensor 853 detects an abnormal value, a safety deciding means 900 gives a cutoff instruction for closing the cutoff valve 854 to the cutoff valve driving means 901, and the cutoff valve driving means 901 outputs a driving signal, thereby causing the cutoff valve 854 to conduct the cutoff operation. The cutoff valve confirming means 101 confirms the operating condition of the cutoff valve 854 in the lapse of designated time since the safety deciding means 900 gives a cutoff instruction to the cutoff valve driving means 901 to be transferred as cutoff valve condition information to the safety deciding means 900.
