PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a picture display device which displays a natural picture discriminating a display region, while emphasizing contrast, brightness, hue or the like. SOLUTION: In the case of that a natural picture is included in a video signal 11, a detecting circuit 4 receiving a horizontal synchronizing signal 31 with a discrimination signal and a vertical synchronizing signal 32 takes out discrimination signals 33, 34 from the horizontal synchronizing signal 31 with the discrimination signal and the vertical synchronizing signal 32. The discrimination signals 33, 34 are inputted to a control circuit 5. In the control circuit 5, a control signal 51 emphasizing the natural picture in the video signal is generated. The control signal 51 is inputted to a video signal amplifying circuit 6, and a signal level of the natural picture is emphasized by the video signal amplifying circuit 6.
