PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high purity dihydrojasmonic acid ester having an extremely small impurity content, and provide its production method. SOLUTION: This dihydrojasmonic acid ester of the formula (R is a 2-5C hydrocarbon group) having >=99.5 wt.% purity and <0.1 wt.% any of the contained impurity is obtained by performing an ester interchange reaction of methyl dihydrojasmonate with a 2-5C alcohol in the presence of a basic catalyst at <=100 deg.C and distilling the obtained crude product without neutralizing.
