<p>An electric wire having a conductive material and, covering the surface of the material, an ethylene. α-olefin copolymer having measured values in respectively specified ranges with respect to a density, a melt flow rate, a decane-soluble component content, a melting point and a melt tensile strength. The electric wire is excellent in electrically insulating properties, mechanical strength, wear resistance and crosslinking properties, and also appearance. The copolymer may be used alone or may be used in combination with a high pressure processed low density polyethylene. A covering layer having a tensile strength of 15 MPa or more, a tensile elongation of 400 % or more and an abrasion loss as measured by the Taber abrasion test method of 15 mg or less can be provided. The adjustment of the resin pressure into a specific range in covering the conducting material with the copolymer can lead to the manufacture of a covering layer having a smooth appearance by an extrusion molding with high speed.</p> |
