PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a master disk for the production of an optical recording medium that attains a high preformat signal contrast and causes a slight change in preformat signal. SOLUTION: The master disk for the production of an optical recording medium with a light scattering rough-surfaced preformat has a rough-surfaced preformat part 20 with a rough surface forming layer 3 comprising a mixture of at least a photoresist and particles. The rough-surfaced preformat part 20 is obtained by successively laminating a substrate 1 for the master disk, a resist layer 2 containing no particles and the rough surface forming layer 3.
