PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a remote reset system for MODEM that resets a terminal by transmitting a reset signal via an exchange line from a host side to the terminal. SOLUTION: This remote reset system is provided with a terminal MODEM 10 in a data network system using a general exchange line that is provided with a detection circuit for a reset request signal independent of MODEM functions and with a network 12 that outputs a single tone acting like a reset signal for a line (telephone number) of an object terminal to the terminal MO DEM 10 on request from a host side to reset the system of the terminal on request of the host. The terminal MODEM 10 receives the reset signal and the telephone number sent from the host 14 of the network 12 and allows the terminal 20 to receives them. The terminal 20 resets itself by using the reset signal.
