PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize reading without color slurring in a line interval direction (vertical scanning direction) by forming an image of one line on an original face on line sensors by means of an image forming lens having an anamorphic lens and suppressing the distortion curve aberration of the image forming lens. SOLUTION: Ranges 8R, 8G and 8B on an original 8 forming a color picture are reading ranges which are conjugated with line sensors 5R, 5G and 5B. Through an image forming lens 4 containing an anamophic lens having a shape where at least one face is rotationally asymmetric to an optical axis, light flux based on picture information on the original 8 is image-formed on a reading means 5 face. The three line sensors 5R, 5G and 5B which are mutually parallel are arranged on a same substrate face in the reading means 5. When the line interval of the line sensors is set to be S0, the width of the short direction of the line sensor to be W and the distortion curve component of the image forming lens 4 in a vertical scanning direction to be Dis(s), the condition of|Dis(s)|<0.25 W/S0 is satisfied.
