PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation system which can instantaneously display a new guide route by re-searching the guide route from a deviating path to a destination. SOLUTION: A road selection part 32 once obtaining information on an intersection ahead of it specifies a branch path other than the guide path among the branch paths of the intersection and generates and supplies reretrieval request information making a request to reretrieve a preparatory route from the specified branch path to the destination to a retrieval part 33. The reretrieval part, 33 once obtaining the reretrieval request information searches road network information stored on a CD-ROM 4 for the preparatory route and stores the retrieved preparatory route information in a preparatory route storage part 36. A decision part 31 once detecting this automobile deviating from the guide route generates and supplies deviation information to a guide part, 34. The guide part 34 once obtaining the deviation information acquires the corresponding preparatory route information from the preparatory route storage part 36 and instantaneously displays it as a new guide route at a display part 6.
