PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an assembly state detecting device for insert component which can accurately detect the assembly state of insert components inserted and assembled in a work with a simple constitution. SOLUTION: A detector 24 which can abut against an insert component of a VVT assembly slides according to whether or not there is an insert component to open and close the flow passage to the opening end 28 of an air flow passage 28 crossing a slide path. Consequently, the pressure of the compressed air supplied from an air supply source varies to change the state of a pressure switch arranged between the air supply source and air flow passage 28. When all insert components are normally inserted, the valve body 24b of the detector 24 closes the air flow passage 28 to inhibit the air from flowing out of the open end 28a and hold the pressure switch in a high-pressure state, but when even one insert component is not normally inserted, the valve body 24b opens the air flow passage 28 to make the air flow out of the open end 28b and place the pressure switch in a low-pressure state, thereby detecting a defect in the assembly of the insert components.
