An airbag device (1) comprises an airbag housing (10) for receiving an airbag (11) that can be activated and that is folded-up when the airbag is in the non-activated state. The inventive device is arranged along a body area which is bent crosswise in relation to the longitudinal direction of the vehicle. The airbag housing (10) is provided with a cross-section that is adapted to the bend of the body area when seen crosswise in relation to the longitudinal direction of the vehicle. The inventive airbag device (1) having an airbag housing (10) is better adapted to the requirements of body manufacturing without affecting the functionality of the airbag device (1).
