PURPOSE: A vehicle engine is provided to improve fuel efficiency through simplifying structure of the engine while reducing weight of the engine, and to reduce vibration of a vehicle through generating stroke of the engine to left and right or to front and back. CONSTITUTION: An engine for a vehicle is formed by cylinders(20) installed in a cylinder block(10); pistons(22) in the cylinders; piston rods(24) at lower portions of the pistons; a main shaft(30) between the cylinders; and a main rotating plate(40) on the main shaft. Herein, ends of the piston rods are contacted to the main shaft plate for converting reciprocation of the pistons into rotation. A flywheel(60) is installed on end of the main shaft, and a valve driving plate(50) is installed at a cylinder head(26) for operating as a camshaft. A valve drive profile(52) is formed on the valve driving plate, and intake and exhaust valves(56,57) of intake and exhaust manifolds(54,55) are installed along the valve drive profile. Driving force of the main rotation plate is transferred to the valve driving plate and the flywheel. Driving force of the pistons is converted into rotational force for rotating the main shaft connected to the main rotation plate. Therefore, the flywheel and the valve driving plate are rotated.
