PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rocker arm shaft assembly without a bearing and a rocker arm shaft assembly with a bearing which are compatibility in the same basic engine design structure. SOLUTION: A rocker arm shaft assembly 20 is composed of a center attaching shaft 2, and a main body 52 having a valve contact end part 54 and a push rod contact end 56. The assembly 20 also has a rocker arm 24 attached so as to be turnable about the center shaft 22. The push rod contact end has a semispherical recession at side portions 58, 60 of the main body to be formed with a semispherical external projection 82. The center attaching shaft is a tubular shaft having lubricating holes 30 spaced from each other for feeding lubricant to the rocker arms.
