摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a molding process for optical elements that can inexpensively and stably give glass elements having high levels of the shape exactness and a high level of profile accuracy directly from a softened glass block of low viscosity, for example, molten glass in the molten state. SOLUTION: In this molding process for glass elements, the molding blocks comprising a pair of top and bottom mold parts are constituted with a porous material, gas is ejected from the molding face of the molding blocks, and the softened glass block is held by the molding face of the mold blocks as it may not come into contact with the mold or almost no contact therewith and is subjected to the press molding. In this case, the pressing rate by the molding blocks is controlled on the press molding of the softened glass block so that the thickness of the gas between the surface of the softened glass block and the molding face of the molds may be kept uniform at a desired level of exactness.</p>
