PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To knit an increased number of knitting stitches having a beautiful stitch face without causing yarn breakage with a flat knitting machine. SOLUTION: This method for knitting an increased number of knitting stitches comprises a first step for knitting a course to increase the number of knitting stitches with knitting needles of a first bed, a second step for transferring loops engaged with the first knitting needles of a wale for increasing the number of knitting stitches in the knitting needles of the first needle bed to second knitting needles of a second needle bed corresponding to the first knitting needles, a third step for retransferring the loops transferred to the second knitting needles to the first knitting needles in the knitting process for the next course, feeding knitting yarns to the second knitting needles and passing new loops formed with the second knitting needles through the original loops returned to the first knitting needles by transfer, a fourth step for transferring the loops engaged with the knitting needles located on one end side of the knitted fabric from the first knitting needles in the knitting needles of the first needle bed to the knitting needles of the second needle bed and a fifth step for transferring the loops engaged with the needles of the second needle bed to the knitting needles of the first needle bed subsequent to the first knitting needles so that the new loops are located adjacently to the original loops.
