PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a main-pole fixing member, which acts as a sure fixing means utilizing an inserting hole formed to a handrail, on which an awning for a building is mounted, and cost of which is reduced because the main-pole fixing member can be prepared of a simple rod-shaped member only by bending a leg section. SOLUTION: A U-shaped fixing member 20 has a main-pole fixing section 22 engaging the lower end of a main pole with the top face of a main body 21 by screws inserted into tapped holes 22a and supporting the main pole in a forward inclinable manner and a base abutted against the upper end face of a handrail 3. A plurality of inserting holes 24, 24... are bored at the lower end of the longitudinal side face of the main body 21, and a collar section 25 is projected to the upper sections of the inserting holes 24, 24.... A leg section 26a is abutted directly against the external surface of the handrail 3 in leg sections 26a, 26b, in which opposed both ends bent in a U shape are widened and which are inserted into the inserting holes 24. A stationary plate 27 is fixed to one leg section 26b by engaging pawls 27a at both ends, and a knob 28a is mounted at one end of a screw section 28 screwed at the center of the stationary plate.
