PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a data electrode to be readily formed by the direct coating and baking of a silver paste on a bottom surface by floating and conveying a molten glass containing a specific amount of SiO2 on a molten tin to form a plate shape, and specifying the relative concentration of the tin on the surface brought into contact with the molten tin. SOLUTION: A molten glass comprising 39-66 wt.% SiO2, and optionally prescribed amounts of Al2O3, B2O3, Li2O, Na2O, K2O, MgO, CaO, SrO, Bad, ZnO, ZrO2, TiO2+Bi2O3, CeO2, Fe2O3+CoO3+NiO, SO3+Sb2O3 and the like is floated and conveyed on a molten tin to form a plate shape and to provide the objective float glass for a display substrate. At the time, the relative concentration C0 of Sn on the glass surface brought into contact with the molten tin is regulated so as to be <=0.046. The C0 is represented by the equation C0= NSn/(14.08NSi+NSn) (NSn is the number of photoelectrons derived from Sn3d5/2 orbital per unit time, measured by an X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy; NSi is the number of photoelectrons derived from Si2p orbital per unit time).
