<p>This invention is a cannula (10), and method for providing an external connection with an implanted artificial port (24) for communicating with the body lumen of a patient. The artificial port (24) has an entrance conduit (22) with an inwardly tapering section (36). The tapered cannula (10) is sized, proportioned to substantially match, and seal with the inwardly tapering section (36) of the entrance conduit (22). Thus the cannula (10) can form a readily removable seal with the inwardly tapering section (36). A typical angle of taper is one to two degrees.</p> |
