ANTIBODIES THAT RECOGNIZE APP CLEAVED BY CASPASES AND METHODS OF USE

Amyloid- beta peptide (A beta ) formation and the apoptotic loss of neurons are intimately linked processes in the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Alzheimer's disease. The roles of apoptotic proteases and caspases in cleavage of amyloid- beta precursor protein (APP) and biogenesis of amyloidogenic A beta peptide species are described. Antibodies that recognize caspase cleaved APP are described as well as various utilities therefore.
