PURPOSE: A range hood is provided to prevent smoke or steam generated during food cooking from being leaked from a hood. CONSTITUTION: A range hood comprises a hood(20) having a hood chamber(22) opened downward and an outlet(24) communicated with the hood chamber, a centrifugal fan(30) and a fan motor(32) mounted onto the hood and which compressively sucks gas flowing into the hood chamber and discharges the gas through the outlet of the hood, a sensing member(60) arranged at a front surface of the hood for sensing the presence of person, a conveying motor(40) arranged at a front surface of the hood and which rotates in accordance with the sensing member, a feed screw(50) directly connected to the conveying motor, and a gas shield plate(46) which is screw-coupled to the feed screw so as to vertically move at a front surface of the hood chamber in accordance with a rotation direction of an output terminal of the conveying motor.
