The invention relates to a continuous cross-cutting apparatus for a web-like material (4), such as a web of pulp or alike, comprising means (1, 3) for maintaining the web (4) in a tensioned condition at the moment of cutting, a web-supporting assembly (2) and at least one web-piercing blade element (5) on the opposite side of the web, said assembly (2) comprising at least one arrangement (6) for enabling a piercing action of the blade element (5) through the web (4). The invention also relates to a method for the continuous cutting of a web (4), wherein said web (4) is maintained in a tensioned condition and pierced in cross-machine direction with a blade element (5) in one or more operations at the location of the supported web. Furthermore, the invention relates to a continuous sheet cutter unit in a pulp-drying machine, wherein a cross-cutting device (2) for cutting separate webs into sheets corresponds to the above-described cross-cutting apparatus. |
