A blood reservoir, for example for cardiotomy, which is elongate with its longitudinal axis upright in the position of use, the blood inlet being at the upper end and comprising a plurality of tubular nozzles 66, which extend normally of the longitudinal axis and terminate within the reservoir in a concavely curved wall to direct flow smoothly into the reservoir. A perforated cylinder extends from end to end of the reservoir within the latter and its bore communicates with the inlet, the cylinder housing a filter and first defoaming means for removing large bubbles, the cylinder carrying externally second defoaming means for removing small bubbles. <IMAGE> |
