<p>The brake pedal is able to move from a rest position over a control travel to actuate the main brake. An electric selector moves between an inoperative position and operative positions of the retarder. A controller moves the selector in response to pedal movement. A spring (11) acts on the movable member (7) of the selector (6) to move it towards the operative positions in response to movement of the pedal (3). In the rest position the main brake is disconnected. A rocker lever (22) and arms (29,30) inhibit the action of the spring over a portion of the travel to return the movable member into the inoperative position.</p> |
