PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a colorant composition which enables a pigment to be dispersed well in a vinylidene chloride resin and can stably color the resin without staining the inside of a mixer by compounding a (meth)acrylic ester resin having a specified flow start temperature with a pigment. SOLUTION: This colorant composition, having a flow start temperature of 115-135 deg.C, is prepared by thermally mixing 100 pts.wt. (meth)acrylic ester resin having a flow start temperature of 110-175 deg.C, preferably 120-165 deg.C, with 25-300 pts.wt. organic, inorganic or body pigment, 1-50 pts.wt. plasticizer and required amounts of a lubricant, a dispersant, a resin stabilizer and other resin additives, cooling and solidifying the resultant mixture and crushing it. Thus prepared composition, when used for coloring a vinylidene chloride resin, gives a film which does not exhibit the degradation in seal strength of a sealed section after high-frequency sealing.
