Process for setting up and controlling the axial preloading of a chucking portion (34) of at least one stem of the screw or bolt type (4). Preloading comprises tensioning the extended portion (33) of the stem (4) comprising the chucking portion (34), using a load-handling device (9) of the stem (4) and a tensioning device (6). The control process comprises a stage where, before preloading, the tensioning device is brought into a rest position and the load-handling device (9) is brought alongside the tensioning device (6) in the rest position, and a stage where, after the preloading has been completed, the tensioning device is returned to the said rest position and flattened in the rest position toward one of the extremities of the extended portion (33) and a comparison is made, in relation to a threshold, of the difference between the initial length (Li) and the final length (Lf) of the extended portion (33). |
