PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sterilization system capable of easy and efficient sterilization at normal temperatures and pressures and causing no ozonosphere disruption, designed to set up a discharge side electrode composed of many needle electrodes for the purpose of high voltage application and a grounded side electrode consisting of a flat plate-like electrode. SOLUTION: This sterilization system 1 is designed to have a source unit 21 for generating high voltage and a treatment unit 5 having a discharge side electrode 3 for application of high voltage generated and a grounded side electrode 4, interpose an object to be sterilized between the above electrodes in the treatment unit 5, and generate a pulse streamer electric discharge between the above electrodes, wherein the discharge side electrode 3 consists of many needle electrodes 3 disposed at specified intervals each within 10-80 mm, and the ground side electrode 4 consists of a flat plate-like electrode 4. The sterilization system 1 thus provided is highly safe, has no problem of ozonosphere disruption, and enables various kinds of microbes to be easily and efficiently killed at temperatures and pressures without impairing the quality inherent in an object to be sterilized, therefore is optimum for sterilizing foods inappropriate for heating and grains such as unpolished rice. |
