PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable distance-speed meter which computes the travel speed and the travel distance of a user from GPS waves received by a GPS receiver and presents a mean travel speed with a little measuring error due to waving of the user's arm. SOLUTION: The distance-speed meter computes the travel speed and the travel distance of a user, based on GPS waves obtained by a GPS receiver 10, detects the arm waving period, using a movement detecting means 11, and changes the sampling period in the receiver 10 according to the detected arm waving period so that the error of the mean travel speed, resulting from that the arm waving period is nearly equal to the sampling period, can be reduced. |
