METHOD AND DEVICE FOR DISCRIMINATING RESIN

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and quickly discriminate a resin by introducing the decomposition gas generated by the thermal decomposition of a resin subject into a small chamber followed by infrared spectral diffraction, and comparatively collating the resulting spectrum with the preliminarily formed spectrum of a resin. SOLUTION: A recovered resin 1 as a subject is thermally decomposed by a solid 12 heated to a high temperature within a small chamber 13 to generate a gas, and the generated gas is sucked by a gas guide 15 through a thermal decomposition probe 14 and sent to the gas cell 16 of a Fourier transformation infrared analyzer 17. A computer 18 comparatively collates the spectrum of the recovered resin obtained by the infrared analyzer 17 with about 30 kinds of spectra preliminarily collected and stored to discriminate the kind of the recovered resin 11. In the thermal decomposition, an alumina ball about 5 mm in diameter heated to about 600 deg.C is used, and another new ball is used every end of measurement in order to avoid the dead time of the measurement and expedite the measurement.
