PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to register external characters(ECs) so that the number of ECs to be registered is not restricted to a character registration area and to make it unnecessary for a user to be conscious of ECs in each use of an EC. SOLUTION: An EC preparation means 13 generates a unique EC code by an ASCII format code allowed to be used in common on the basis of EC image data and its phonetic KANA (Japanese syllabary). The EC data are automatically registered in an EC data base 15 formed in a recording area independent of characters by an EC registering means 14 and registered also in a data base 12 by driving a front end processor 11. In the case of inputting an EC to a document file 20, the EC data are recorded as file data. Since a computer 10 identifies an EC code from its phonetic KANA and an EC image code can be restored from the EC code, an EC can be dealt by the EC code without being conscious of the character. |
