摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for conducting electric-discharge machining to a metal electrode disposed near a field-emission cold cathode element in a method for manufacturing an electron tube using the field-emission cold cathode element for an electron source. SOLUTION: When this electron tube 2 using a field-emission cold cathode element 1 for an electron source is manufactured, electric-discharge machining that enhances electric strength between electrodes is conducted by electrically connecting a low-voltage side electrode 5 of an electrode disposed near an element to all the electrodes of the field-emission cold cathode element 1 and by inducing discharge by applying a high voltage between a high-voltage side electrode 4 and the low-voltage side electrode 5. In an electric-discharge machining process, a voltage value of the high voltage applied between the electrodes is risen step by step in accordance with the condition of the electrodes treated.</p>
