The device can be moved manually or mechanically between a stored position inside the front roof support (7) and a use position in front of the windscreen (1). A moving guide rod (2) is provided in each of two spaced guides (3). The guide rods are connected to a shaped end piece (11) that fits in a recess when not in use. The inner surfaces of the end piece are fastened to a screen that covers the guide rods. The guide rods are guided over guide rollers (10), and can be pulled down and rolled up over roller units (9) transverse to the guides and under the front roof support. The guides are arranged in the front transverse support (5) between the cover (4) and the inside roof lining (8).
