The invention relates to a fluid-activated actuator which comprises a tubular body (5) that extends between two spaced-apart head pieces (3, 4) and whose interior is impinged upon by a fluid pressure medium. A strand structure (6) is fixed at the two head pieces (3, 4) that is coaxial to the tubular body (5). Said strand structure contains two strand groups (18, 19) that are arranged cross-wise and that comprise flexible strands (7) that run parallel and have the same longitudinal orientation within one strand group. The strand groups (18, 19) are not cross-linked and coaxially embrace each other.
