PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method which activates a biologically inactive (inactivated) protein due to no active steric structure or other every reason and produces an activating protein capable of easily being converted in a short time into a biologically activated protein. SOLUTION: By adding a sulfhydryl compound into a culture medium in the case that cultivates a protein-containing matter, e. g. a transformant, produced in a biologically inactive state and makes to productively secrete a foreign protein, the protein produced in the biologically inactive state is converted into the active form and the protein produced is recovered as the biologically active protein. By this process, the yield of the objective natural type protein can be more increased, for example, when cultivating the transformant, because a nonnatural type protein can be converted into a biologically active natural type protein. |
