The method involves reading information from a database in the equipment control system, displaying the information according to the type of information points, marking the information points to be transferred, forming corresponding information points in the process control system database by generating suitable data files and copies of the contents of the data files to be transferred into new data files, forming corresponding driver parameter files for a suitable driver at a free address in a driver database, copying the interface or instance database identifier and the address in this database into the driver parameter file and copying the address of the driver parameter file into the associated data file in the process control system database.
