A pneumatic actuator comprising: a housing (50) having an inner surface and defining a chamber (1512); a piston (70) having exterior and interior surfac es and disposed within said housing (50) said piston having a first position an d a second position, whereby said piston is urged from said first position to said second position by fluid pressure; a shaft (80) connected to said pisto n; a spring support member (410) extending from said inner suface of said housing; resilient spring (400) having a first end (408a), and a second free end (408b), said first end connected to said shaft (80) said second free end extending outwardly from said shaft and into said chamber, and said second free end being biassed against said spring support member.
